What Is Tennis Elbow & How Physiotherapy Can Help
Understanding Tennis Elbow
Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a painful condition that occurs when tendons in the elbow are overloaded—usually due to repetitive wrist and arm motions. Despite the name, it doesn’t just affect tennis players. Many people who perform manual tasks or sit long hours at the computer can also develop this condition.
Tennis elbow happens when small tears develop in the extensor tendons that attach to the outer part of the elbow. This leads to pain, inflammation, and weakness, especially when lifting, gripping, or twisting the forearm.
Common Symptoms
How Is Tennis Elbow Treated?
Mild cases can improve with rest, ice application, and activity modification. However, chronic or recurring cases often require physiotherapy for long-term relief and to prevent recurrence.
